I grew up in my grandmother’s kitchen filled with second-hand pyrex bowls, her garden full of plants, often given to her to revive, and in midwestern subdivisions hunting for garage sale treasures. Moral of the story?
I look for opportunity and commit to it.
I am so glad you are here. Over the past four years at Appalachian State University, I have developed a strong passion for strategic storytelling and communication as a Public Relations student. This portfolio is a reflection of my values, work ethic, and commitment to creating meaningful impact as a communications professional.
Driven by curiosity and love for learning, I actively pursued opportunities to grow both personally and professionally. As a member of Chi Omega Women’s Fraternity, I held several leadership roles on the Marketing and Recruitment teams, including Merchandise Chair, Recruitment Assistant, Assistant Director of Marketing, and Director of Marketing. Within the Communication Department I further developed my skills through membership in PRSSA (Public Relations Student Society of America), participation in Create-A-Thon, and networking events like Spring Forward where I served as a moderator for two years.
Community Focus
Growing up raised primarily by my mother and her family, I grew to value showing up and assuming responsibility as member of a community, no matter how big or small. This quality has lead me through academic commitments, leadership roles, and professional opportunities. Being an active participant is foundational to my ethics as a person and as a professional.
Curiosity and Experience
Since childhood I have watched as my mother has pursued new careers and pivoted into new professional landscapes with an eager, open mind . I have always been encouraged to learn through new experiences, and never shy away from an opportunity for growth. Experiential learning has been pivotal in my life, as it has made me a more curious, meaningful, and empathetic communicator.
quality intention
I truly attribute my intrinsic motivation, drive for high-quality, and respect for authenticity to my grandparents. From a young age they taught me that respect and desired payoff can’t be bought, it is earned. I apply this mindset in all aspects of life, working towards an end-product that is not only what is needed, but something I take pride in.
